Useful Books in the CADology Library

Below is a selection of books we have found useful in our daily software development routine.

With ASP.NET being released in Feb 2002, we were looking for a book that would give us a good understanding of the new features. This book covers some of the key topics that we were interested in including GDI+ and using custom controls. This book is not small as it has over 1400 pages.

AutoCAD 2000 VBA

This was one of the first books that came out and we found it very useful whilst getting to know the Object Model that Autodesk have developed in AutoCAD. It has plenty of examples to assist in getting to know how to work the Object Model.

Writing Solid Code

This book is full of ways of improving your source code writing to reduce bugs, some of the techniques you may already use and some you may not. Well written and easy to understand. Although most of the examples are C based but can be applied to most computer languages, for VB programmers this may come in useful with VB.NET.

XML in a Nutshell
With XML starting to appear in the CAD environment with both Autodesk and Bentley, we wanted a book to give us a good overview of XML at a good price. At the time most XML books seemed to be high priced. This book details well the XML background and what can be acheived.
